Today, little one had a lot of firsts--first fever, first solid, and first water. Whew. She never had a fever before, so even though its a low-grade fever, it stressed us out. We pushed through with giving her solids though, first up--blended lugaw (rice porridge). We made sure it was unflavored, so she'll just appreciate the rice taste. Most came out rather than got eaten the first time around. But this evening, she ate about half a tablespoon of it already. Yay! And she kept on chasing the spoon and opening wide. We also gave her some water and she liked it, surprisingly enough. Onwards to 5 days of rice porridge! I ate it myself, it was pretty good, and it gives you a sense of how sweet white rice really is. The little one's fever is gone now and we're being treated to lots of babababababa! #babynarratives
Daddy shenanigans. Lol. We went for our 6-month well-baby check-up. Little one is well, but did not gain enough weight ans height this time around. Good news is, we're starting solids! With the hope that she gains weight from that. She's only allowed to try one kind of food for a week at a time. We can give her cereal if we want, but we don't, at least not yet. And no oats or wheat either, as we are still unsure of her reactions to gluten. We have to carefully watch out for any signs or reactions. The hope is that this goes well and that she can eventually eat everything. I still shouldn't eat allergens as to not interrupt the introduction of solids. Another important point is that we shouldn't allow any other person to feed her, as she might take to solids well and accept things that she shouldn't eat yet. I don't know why, but people have little sense of etiquette when it comes to babies, babies shouldn't be fed random things. Onwards to a new journey! And she has bread on her head that we both can't eat until she's 1. Oh dear! #babynarratives
Exhausted little one after her baby school. Today, she enjoyed chasing and popping bubbles! She also did loads of exercises. She still loved the singing and the story time most. Such a curious little one with an amazing attention span! So tired, she fell asleep waiting for our grab ride. #babyschool #babynarratives
About 50 bags from the June stash that Leia cannot use. I have to send it off to a milk bank soon so it doesn't go to waste. I've been in contact with one. This is about half my stash, as I grew too tired to sustain this. I used to pump every 2 hours for 15 minutes. Maddening. But that was how I was able to stabilize my supply and have some security blanket. But alas, it is not allergen-free milk. The comfort and hope is that it might help some preemies in the icu. I will just have to work double time for Leia to have more security milk and maybe help others as well. Motherhood is not easy, breastfeeding can be quite a nightmare. But onwards, it shall all be alright. #babynarratives #breastfeeding #mommydiaries
Daddy definitely aced the baby wearing game. #latepost #babynarratives
Speaking of eliminating allergens, here is our attempt at normal. But the cookies are vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free, while the coffee is decaf. Bit the cookie as soon as it was out, before taking a photo. Lol. @geraldph has a decent collection of gluten-free options. The cookies were delivered frozen, need to thaw it for a bit, then bake for 4-6 minutes. Such a great breakfast! #babynarratives #breastfeeding #mommydiaries
