More on Poleteismo…

ImageThe Center for International Law (Centerlaw)  said yesterday the dismissal by the Office of the Ombudsman of administrative and criminal charges against artist Mideo Cruz and 10 Cultural Center of the Philippines officials over the controversial Kulo exhibit should help clarify for Filipinos the value of free expression in a society anchored on “principled pluralism.”

“Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales deserves recognition for  highlighting the importance of reasoned albeit impassioned discussion about the values that are important to our society,” said Centerlaw lawyers Harry Roque, Joel Butuyan and Romel Regalado Bagares, who represented Cruz and CCP Museum Division Head Karen Ocampo Flores in the proceedings.

The case arose from Cruz’s “Poleteismo” – a wall collage of conflicting and contradictory images of popular religiosity, politics and consumerism – that was shown in the Kulo exhibit at the  CCP in 2011 along with 31 other art works celebrating the national hero Jose Rizal’s 150thbirthday and…

#gamerchef took this photo a while ago. Far from any glamour, such is parenthood. Leia turned 3 months yesterday, and with it, the signal of my time as a full-time mom coming to an end. As short as it is, it still feels like an end of an era. We're enjoying this incredibly challenging time together, as much as we possibly can. Along with the preparation of my syllabus comes the preparation of Leia's routines, as well as breastmilk that we've started freezing bit by bit since she was a month old. There are things that must be adjusted, some must be given up. But that is the story of life I suppose. We make our choices, we move forward, and hope that more doors will open when the time is right. Pikachu is here to help us. Lol. #babynarratives
Our precious little Leia is 3 months old today. She's definitely not an easy baby, but she will smile her most adorable smile and it will all be worth it. I think. (Lol.) She likes grabbing things now and putting them in her mouth. She's attempting to roll but can only manage a side roll. She loves to talk and make a lot of noise. You can definitely tell if she's happy or upset, she will let you know. Right now, she can't sleep, so I am her bed. I just hope I don't drop her. Goodnight little one, I hope you get some sleep tonight. We missed #mtg Nationals 2018 and Antoni's first birthday celebration, but we'll make it up to them soon enough. #babynarratives
Is it bed weather again? Unfortunately for Leia, bed weathers are challenging. She does not like the sound of rain. She's a spring/summer child. #babynarratives Photo by Picture Company
This was Leia at 2 months. Finally managed to bring her to a photo studio. I wanted a newborn photoshoot but it didn't quite work out like I wanted. She did not cooperate much during the photoshoot actually, but they did manage to get some cute shots regardless. Maybe we'll get another shoot when she can manage to sit. I think our little one would like to explore space while fighting the dark side. Lol. #babynarratives
Our little one is 12 weeks old, I can hardly believe it. Her hands and fingers fascinate her, and she recently discovered her feet. She also likes feeling our pillows and looking at the patterns of the pillowcases. She's our adorable one and she's growing too fast. Yet, she still cries when Daddy is away. #babynarratives
Took this a few days ago... Once you get over the fact that a crying baby is stressful, it becomes really funny. Look at that face. Lol. She does smile, but its easier to photograph the crying. Smiles disappear after a second, cries usually last a while. #babynarratives
