Lighter side, on random coffee, cakes and cookies

DanteThinking about too much stuff just makes you hungry and sleepy sometimes. When conference food just isn’t enough, there are times that you just step out and see what else is out there. Dante Coffee Shop is fair. After the National Human Rights Museum tour, there is just that desperate need for coffee. We have not eaten for six hours.

DSC02364Conference cakes could be really nice and pretty though. If you catch it. This is a gold-dusted Tiramisu and it was divine.

DSC02363Cookies kept me alive and sane while I was waiting for my turn in the conference. Again, absolutely divine.

DSC02372I just kept on munching on the conference cookies.

DSC02385And when thirst hits you, you have to swim with the dolphins. Several foreigners and I was at a lost looking for water. It took as a while to figure out that it was in these boxes.

DSC02371You really just have to swim with the dolphins.

And when things are really much too much, there is a Starbucks a block away. Soy caramel macchiato anyone?

And perhaps a pastry?

Due to the lack of time or the constant rush for it, I never got to buy a bread from this bakery. And it just looks so yummy from the outside! Oh well… And more coffee and cakes stories to come. Seriously. This is just day three.

She is 18 months old today. Thought we'd celebrate with great food but it really didn't turn out as planned. That's life I guess. But she insisted on going up and down the stairs of the restaurant until she can manage it on her own. The 18 months flew by so fast. Here she is, little miss independent. #toddlernarratives

This is the little one dancing to k-pop. Lol. Can anyone tell us what songs she was dancing to? We had a tough Friday. We went to public health unit to get an OPV. Then we walked to Rodic's for lunch. After that she rode her first Ikot jeep to go to school. After school, we tried to get a cab to get home, but after like 30 minutes, we really couldn't get one. There were very few cabs on campus and a grab ride would cost a fortune, so we decided to gamble with a jeepney ride. Little one fell asleep for most of it but I felt so bad for her, she looked so dishevelled after. As it was late and we don't have time to cook before she gets really hungry, we stopped by Centris to eat. She enjoyed fries at KFC. But #gamerchef forgot to get me a cookie from Family Mart. There were several events going on and she spent some time dancing to k-pop near Better Days. Being poor is no joke and we are still fortunate we can turn a horrible situation around. I could only shudder at the thought of having no extra money when you need to stop over for food. This is Friday night at the Metro. We are exhausted, but today is also a testament to how resilient babies could be. Go Leia! Dance! #babynarratives
Well baby check-up and some lunch at Mr. Ube. Great food, but limited space, so its challenging to move around with our toddler. We've been going to a public hospital for her check-ups recently and I have to say they have been so kind and accommodating to us. Dear parents, please get your kids checked regularly and make sure they're updated in their vaccines. Check the public hospitals and heath centers in your area. #babynarratives
